100-years life in an album:
(Criteria for estimation)
The permanence presented above is an estimated using an accelerated dark storage tests designed for in silver-halide photos (ISO / FDIS 18909). Samples are printed with an optical density of 1.0 (each black, cyan, magenta, yellow) and kept in a controlled environment of high temperature and 50% relative humidity. The test environment is designed to accelerated colour fading. The rate of the decrease in the optical density and the rate of yellow discolouration of the paper is kept in an environment of 23°C 50% RH.

30-year lightfastness:
(Criteria for estimation)
When displayed in a glass frame in a typical indoor space (estimating 500lux / 100 hours per day) without direct sunlight.
Estimated lightfastness is made under the following test conditions. Light source: White fluorescent light 70,000lux; Temperature: 24°C; Humidity: 60% RH; A 2mm thick glass is placed on the sample with an air gap between the glass and the sample during accelerated testing.

10-year gas fastness:
(Criteria for estimation)
Estimated gas fastness is made under the following test conditions: Temperature (24°C) and humidity (60% RH) are controlled in an environment of mixed gases of O3, NOx and SOx . The ratio of the gases is typical to indoor air composition (O3: NOx: SOx = 3: 19: 1) with 100 times concentration in order to accelerate fading.

(Criteria for estimated of print longevity)
Estimated for image permanence are made using the Wilhelm Imaging Research, Inc. Endpoint criteria: Accumulated illuminance causes a monochromatic / reflective optical density loss of 20 - 35% (figures set respectively for each colour, starting density of 1.0). Accumulated illuminance causes a different in colour balance of yellow, magenta and cyan (each component in composite black) of 12 - 18%.

(Tips)
Note for printing and displaying photos: The image permanence estimates presented above may vary depending on display / storage conditions. The expressed number of years estimates are the result of stimulated, accelerated tests conducted by Canon Inc. and do not represent a product guarantee.

Making your printed images last longer: Light, environmental gases, high temperature and humidity can accelerate colour fading. When displaying your photographs, avoid high intensity lighting and use of glass-filtered frames. Photos stored in the dark, using archival quality albums or storage materials, will tend to last longer than photos exposed to light. Avoid high temperatures and humidity to promote the image permanence of your photos.

Disclaimer
You need to install all black and colour ink tanks or ink cartridges whether you perform mono or color printing. If any ink tank or ink cartridge is not installed, an error occurs, and printing, scanning or copying cannot proceed until a new ink tank or ink cartridge is installed.
Depending on the paper used or the print settings, color ink may be used even when you print a mono document. When any ink colour has run out, you need to replace the ink cartridge to continue printer operations.
To optimise printer performance, Canon inkjet printers undergo an automatic cleaning process, during which the printer purges ink from the nozzles to prevent them from being clogged. During this process, a very small amount of ink will be used. In addition, when you use the printer for the first time, a small amount of ink will be used in the initialisation stage. In these instances, all colors of ink may be utilised.
Generally, parts required in the repair of a printer are available for two to five years after production of such model is discontinued. Depending on your printer model, we may recommend that you replace a printer requiring repair with a new printer of the same model or of another model with similar functions. In such case you may not be able to use the supplies or accessories previously used with your replaced printer. Your operating system may also need to be upgraded. Please consult your local authorised Canon contact accordingly.
Generally, the warranty for your printer will be for one year from the date of purchase subject to the actual terms of your local warranty. The warranty does not cover printer supplies such as paper and ink tanks/cartridges. For full and actual terms of your warranty, please refer to your warranty card or local authorised Canon contact.
To obtain good printing quality, use up ink within six months after opening.
Costs of the rectification of problems with your printer caused or contributed by the use of non-genuine Canon ink tank or cartridges (including where a genuine Canon Ink tank or cartridge is supplemented or fed with non-genuine Canon ink) may not be covered under your printer warranty. Please keep this in mind when using non-genuine Canon ink.
